Of course a company based in Missouri is going to come up with a disc called the Chief. And this disc doesn't disappoint. The Gateway Chief is a thin putt and approach disc with a very slim profile and a flat top. This is a beaded putter but isn't bulky and gives a smooth release out of the hand.
The SureGrip or S-series matted version of disc plastic is a high end version of the “XT” or “D” plastic produced by other manufacturers. This type of polymer offers a firm, solid feel with a grippy surface and great performance in the rain or extreme heat. The S-plastic allows the disc to break in slowly without changing its flight characteristics after just a few hits.
As their name implies Gateway is based in St. Louis and has been active in the disc golf community since 1994. When they're not busy help design disc golf courses (the current count is over 90!) they have created a special line of discs including their popular putter the Wizard.
They were the first to develop wide-winged drivers to battle wicked headwinds and currently have over 32 PDGA-approved models available in three plastic blends: Diamond, Platinum and Sure Grip. They've recently started working with hemp polymers which is sure to attract a, uh... um... new market of players.
